Arkansas Medical Marijuana Sales Increase Amid Pandemic

Arkansas Medical Marijuana Sales Increase Pandemic

Arkansas medical marijuana sales continue to grow after almost one year since the first dispensary opened in the state. According to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, roughly 11,000 pounds of medical marijuana have been sold totaling to $73 million in sales.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, some dispensaries have even been reporting record sales over the past number of weeks. Scott Hardin, Director of Communications of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, stated that many patients have been making the maximum purchase of 2.5 ounces every 14 days since the pandemic.

On March 11, Governor Asa Hutchinson signed an order which declared a public health emergency. Since then, Arkansas medical marijuana patients have spent $24.37 million at dispensaries which equals approximately one-third of total sales since May 2019.

Arkansas patients can place their medical marijuana orders online which can later be picked up at the dispensary. Some dispensaries across the state such as Greenlight in West-Helena, ReLeaf Center in Bentonville, and Fiddler's Green in Mountain View also offer delivery services to Arkansas patients.
