Knowing how to manage your Arkansas medical marijuana card can help you avoid delays and keep your registration up to date. From checking your expiration date to finding proof of a previous card or navigating the state portal, understanding these steps can make the process easier.

Arkansas medical marijuana cards expire after one year. Patients must renew their cards to continue purchasing medical marijuana legally from licensed dispensaries. Here is what you need to know about card expiration dates, renewals, state portal access, and more.

Understanding Your Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card Expiration Date

Your card's expiration date tells you when your current registration is no longer valid. You can find it on your physical or digital card under the “EXP” section. You can also check your information through the Arkansas Department of Health's patient portal.

Arkansas allows patients to begin the renewal process up to 60 days before their card expires. Starting early gives you time to complete your evaluation, submit the required documents, and allow the state up to 14 days to review and approve your application.

Submitting your renewal application before your card expires does not automatically extend your current card's expiration date. If your card expires while the state is still reviewing your application, you must wait until your new card is approved and issued before you can legally purchase medical marijuana from a licensed Arkansas dispensary.

How to Renew Your Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card

Renewing your Arkansas medical marijuana card involves a medical evaluation and a state application.

Here is how to renew your card with our help:

  1. Schedule your renewal evaluation. Book an online appointment with a medical marijuana doctor - that’s where we come in! At Arkansas Marijuana Card, we make the medical evaluation portion of renewal convenient through telemedicine appointments, so patients can meet with a marijuana doctor from home.

  2. Complete your evaluation. During your appointment, the marijuana doctor will review your previous card, medical history, and determine whether you continue to qualify for medical marijuana. If you need help finding proof of your previous card, check out our guide to acceptable documents to learn which records you can use.

  3. Receive your new physician certification. If you qualify, you will receive a new certification via your patient portal to submit with your state renewal application.

  4. Submit your state application. Log in to the Arkansas Department of Health patient portal, complete your renewal application, and upload the required documents. Our team can walk you through the state application process during booking or when we call about your online booking. You can also find instructions in your after-visit summary to help you complete and submit your application.

  5. Pay the state fee and wait for approval. The patient application fee is $50 and is nonrefundable. The state may take up to 14 days to review and process your application after receiving the required materials and payment. Once your renewal is approved, you can digitally download or print your new medical marijuana card. With your new card, you can visit a licensed Arkansas dispensary to purchase medical marijuana.

How to Navigate the Arkansas Medical Marijuana State Portal

The Arkansas Department of Health's online patient portal allows you to manage your registration, check your application status, and access your approved card.

Logging In to Your Account

Visit the Arkansas medical marijuana patient portal and log in using the email address and password associated with your existing account.

If you forget your password, use the password reset option on the login page. Check your inbox and spam folder for reset instructions.

If you have changed your email address or cannot access your account, contact the Arkansas Department of Health at 501-682-4982 for assistance. Avoid creating a duplicate account unless the state instructs you to do so.

Checking Your Application Status

After submitting your application, log in periodically to check for updates. Processing may take up to 14 days, and incomplete applications or errors can cause additional delays.

If the state requests more information, respond as soon as possible. If your application remains pending, remember that you must wait for approval before purchasing medical marijuana with your renewed registration.

Accessing Your Card

Once your application is approved, you can access your card through the state portal.

  1. Log in to your account

  2. Look for the card icon in the upper-right corner of the homepage

  3. Select the icon to view your card

  4. Print or download your card

Once your application is approved, download a digital copy of your medical marijuana card or print a paper copy to bring with you to a licensed Arkansas dispensary. You will also need a valid government-issued photo ID to verify your identity and confirm that you are authorized to purchase medical marijuana.
